MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 27th OCTOBER 2009 AT GORSLEY VILLAGE HALL
COMMITTEE PRESENT
Ralph Hale (chairman), Sheila Fowler, Geoff Taylor, Bob Weston, Richard Delahay, Sue Matthews & Chris Tormey.
Police representation CSO Paul Leighton & PC Wendy Powell.
Apologies from Richard Smith.
Treasurers Report
The balance of funds stood at £126.61.
Reports
PC Powell reported recent intruders at Gorsley Post Office but they were unsuccessful at gaining entry due to presence of dogs. PC Powell warned against approaching intruders but to ring police for assistance.
Increase in domestic fuel thefts.
CSO Paul Leighton handed out fridge magnets to committee members for distribution around village area to those considered to be most vulnerable so that the police contact numbers would be on hand in an emergency. He also passed around Halloween window stickers that could be displayed by those who did not want to be disturbed by Trick or Treat revellers. Paul reminded everyone that senior citizens were most vulnerable to distraction burglaries. Do not allow anyone indoors without prior notice or appointment from original utility company and/or a pre-arranged password can be arranged. A police officer should be asked for his collar number.
Everyone should be encouraged to register online to the Community Messaging Service to enable them to receive information which may be of interest to the community.
SmartWater continues to be widely used especially in schools and churches.
Ralph Hale reminded everyone that the Gorsley Chapel bonfire would take place on Friday 6th November.
The N.Watch newsletters were given out for distribution around the village.
As there was no other business the meeting was closed.
Next meeting to be held on Tuesday 26th January 2010 7.30pm at the village hall.
